This Pride weekend, join the boycotts for Palestine.
Recently, our team joined a workshop led by Queers Against Israeli Apartheid (QUAIA), delivered to us and members of the Vancouver Dyke March board. At the close of the workshop, we were asked to publicly commit to PACBI—the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. Today, we join the Vancouver Dyke March to affirm this commitment, reiterate our signature to the boycott of the Vancouver Pride Society (VPS), and re-affirm our solidarity with the movement for Palestinian liberation and equal rights. We urge all local queer and trans organizations to reach out to QUAIA for support and education regarding PACBI and to sign on.
Sagah exists because we believe that all people deserve to live safe, healthy, and full lives, and because as trans people, we need to fight for the healthcare which would allow us that type of life. We’ve organized to re-orient our movements around humanitarian struggles acute to our local trans communities—around how hard it is to stay alive, to stay housed, to stay healthy, to stay safe from violence, in a system persistently denying us welfare.
With the world, we have watched for nearly two years as the state of Israel has continued to inflict a live-streamed genocide in Palestine. To this day, our government continues to support this genocide, despite enormous alarm and persistent action from our communities, grassroots, and humanitarian groups. Our economy still profits from arms we send, technologies we contribute to, and materials we extract, entangled with genocides in Sudan, Congo, & the deprivation imposed on Indigenous people and the Global South by persistent resource and military colonialism. Amidst this, our mandate for universal health and human dignity calls out for a free Palestine.
We fear a “final solution” in Gaza. Healthcare workers and aid groups on the ground report depleted supplies of food, drinkable water, and medicine. Israeli troops continue to obstruct the entry of humanitarian aid, while mass killing Palestinians at “GHF” death traps. An unprecedented event of livestreamed, mass starvation, manufactured by the Israeli occupation, is imminent in Gaza.
Our plea is urgent: stop the genocide in Palestine. Raise whatever power you have to do so.
