Over 100 2S/LGBTQIA+, feminist, & allied organisations and academics send letter to BC Minister on 2S/TNB surgical access:

Today, the Enchanté Network and Sagah, along with over 100 2SLGBTQI+, feminist, and healthcare organizations and academics sent a letter to the BC Minister of Health urging the government to build capacity and expand coverage for gender-affirming surgeries in the province.

The BC government has begun approaching medical professionals to relocate their practices to the province in response to the shifting political climate in the United States, an approach endorsed by the Canadian Medical Association. Many practices have been forced to close amid escalating attacks on gender-affirming care across the US such as the UChicago Medicine pediatric gender-affirming care program. This policy will help safeguard access for Canadians, Americans, and trans and gender diverse people across the globe.

This policy approach, alongside the expansion of coverage to align with the WPATH Standards of Care, would continue BC’s history as a national leader in gender-affirming healthcare.
